Hey Josh, I hope by now you have had better luck out of 10 meters. I'm sure you have checked the basics, like the coaxal cable and connections, RF gain control and ANL/NB controls. Being resonate on 28.400 MHz is good, the A99 is a somewhat broad band antenna. I could use the one I owned without the need of a tuner from 12 meters to the SSB part of ten meters with it being resonate at 27.200 MHz. It can also be tuned with an antenna tuner for 15 meters and the upper part of 10 meters, and is a fair antenna when set up like this. You may have heard some folks say that the Antron 99 is not much better than a dummy load. Baloney! I have worked several stations on the east coast and the Caribbian on 10 and 15 meters with the A99. They are not the most efficient antennas around, but when the bands are open you can make good contacts with a modest set up. As summer rolls on and the next solar maxumum gets closer, just keep the radio on when you are home because you never know when you might hear a distant station.
