470 Amateur Radio Group

I did not hear the QRM myself but did hear the jest of it. Malicious Interference like this has plaged the 470 and other 2 meter repeaters in the area for two years or more. I too am angry about this incident, and like others, tired of the key-downs, and obsene language. I don't know if there really is fox hunters out looking for offending signals of not, but even if so it is impossible for them to be ready to go 24/7 when an incident occurs. I don't know how many Control Operators Tim has for his ten or so repeaters, but the repeaters need close monitoring by control ops. In addition, it may be time to look at putting a CTCSS tone on the machine full time and only let the tone frequency be known to the regular users of the repeater. In other words the tone freq. cannot be spoken over the air, rather, be relayed over a phone line or email. I know this is an unpopular idea, but it would be better than cancel and give up the great nets including The Ladies Net, that we enjoy and look forward to every week. Short of making the 145.470 a closed repeater I don't know what elese that can be done to put a quick stop to this sort of thing.
